Magnitude 7.1 Earthquake Shakes Southern Japan, Injuring Dozens and Trapping Shoppers
A magnitude 7.1 quake struck Kumamoto on Kyushu late Tuesday afternoon, injuring at least 50 people, cutting power and disrupting travel across southern Japan. A tsunami advisory was issued and then lifted, and fire crews worked to free shoppers trapped inside a collapsed shopping centre.
