Reworked tRNAs Let Scientists Design Proteins With Up to 34 Amino Acids

Scientists have reengineered transfer RNAs so that cells can build proteins using as many as 34 amino acids, well beyond the natural 20. The work extends a two-decade effort to make biological systems produce novel proteins. Potential applications span medicine, agriculture and materials science.
