US consumer confidence falls to lowest level since 2014

The Conference Board’s consumer confidence index fell to 81.9 in September from 88.6 in August, its lowest reading since April 2014, AP reports. The board’s release shows weaker assessments of both current conditions and the outlook. The survey measures households’ views, rather than a direct change in economic output.
