Iran Threatens to Halt Energy Exports as U.S. Reimposes Hormuz Blockade and Escalates Strikes

The month-old U.S.-Iran ceasefire has collapsed into open conflict. The United Arab Emirates said Iranian cruise missiles struck two of its tankers, the Mombasa and Al Bahiyah, in the Strait of Hormuz, killing one mariner and wounding at least eight in what Tehran called retaliation for renewed U.S. strikes. President Trump ordered a third consecutive night of strikes on Iran, reinstated the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports, and demanded that ships pay a toll of up to 20 percent of cargo value to transit the strait -- with Gulf states expected to foot the bill. The U.S. military death toll in the war has risen to 14.
