Civil Rights Leader Jesse Jackson to Lie in State at South Carolina Capitol

via Washington Times·Feb 24·2 sources

The Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. will be honored at the South Carolina State Capitol in a lying-in-state ceremony in the state where he was born and where his career as a civil rights activist began — by pushing to integrate his local public library as a high school student. Jackson, who ran for president twice, founded the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, and marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will be remembered at the capitol building before funeral services later this week. His death marks the passing of one of the last living links to the civil rights movement's inner circle.
