Massachusetts report documents abuse of nearly 1,000 children

Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell’s report found that more than 270 Catholic clerics sexually abused nearly 1,000 children across the Fall River, Springfield and Worcester dioceses over decades. Investigators say officials knew about abuse and failed to prevent it. The investigation produced no new indictments, although one case referred to a district attorney led to charges; legal limits and deaths prevent some prosecutions.
