Nancy Mace Forces House Vote to Release Sexual Misconduct Reports on Lawmakers

Nancy Mace took to the House floor Tuesday to force a vote on her resolution directing the Ethics Committee to preserve and publicly release all reports investigating members of Congress for sexual harassment or sexual relationships with staff. The resolution comes amid explosive allegations against Rep. Tony Gonzales over an affair with a staffer who later died by suicide — allegations that have prompted calls for his resignation from within his own party. Mace, who has been one of the most vocal advocates for accountability on Capitol Hill since the #MeToo movement, argued that the American public has a right to know which of their elected representatives have been investigated for sexual misconduct and what the findings were.
