Self-Healing Contact Lenses Repair Scratches After an Hour of UV Light

Researchers in South Korea have built a contact lens that repairs its own scratches when exposed to sunlight, using a UV-activated hydrogel that closes small surface damage within about an hour. A scratched lens today usually means an expensive replacement, and for people wearing specialty or scleral lenses that cost can be substantial. The work is early stage, but the same self-healing chemistry has obvious uses beyond eyes.
