Telecom Disruptions Hit Tigray as Fighting Resumes in Northern Ethiopia

Internet and telephone services were disrupted in Ethiopia’s Tigray region after fighting resumed between regional forces and the national army. The BBC reports that Ethio Telecom services were cut while the smaller Safaricom network remained operational. The disruption threatens access to communications and mobile banking in a region still affected by the earlier civil war.
