Ultraviolet pulses modify diamond defects while preserving existing signals

via Phys.org·10h ago

A researcher writing for Phys.org describes experiments in which ultraviolet laser pulses produced new optical defects in diamond while existing nitrogen-vacancy signals stayed largely unchanged. The study suggests more selective control for future quantum devices. It does not demonstrate new working qubits, and the microscopic mechanism and generality require further tests.
