California law bans electric-shock gloves starting in 2027

California enacted a ban on officers’ use of electric-shock gloves starting next year and lasting through 2030, The Guardian reports. The law also calls for a study of the devices. It seeks to cover federal officers as well as state and local police, but legal experts question whether that federal provision can be enforced.
