NASA says post-flight analysis found nine spots of char loss on Artemis II’s heat shield, compared with 103 on Artemis I. The agency attributes roughly tenfold reductions in cracking and char loss to a modified reentry trajectory. Performance matched engineering predictions; sample testing and material-recession analysis continue.
