Researchers trace spyware attacks on Al Jazeera to online ads

NBC News and Wired report that Citizen Lab and Confiant traced a campaign targeting at least 45 Al Jazeera devices to spyware delivered through online ads linked to DiscoverTech. The reported attacks occurred in 2024 and 2025; the investigation is newly published. Google and other ad platforms took action against the company. DiscoverTech did not respond; ordinary ads from it are not proof of infection.
