Astronomers Find the Strongest Evidence Yet That Betelgeuse Has a Companion Star

Using the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope, a team led by French researcher Miguel Montargès obtained firm evidence that Betelgeuse — one of the most recognizable stars in the night sky — is not alone. A companion would help explain the long-puzzling variations in the star's brightness.
